The EVIA Digital Archive Project is a joint initiative of Indiana University and the University of Michigan to establish a digital archive of ethnographic video for use by scholars and instructors. The mission is to create a preservation and access system that will provide long-term scholarly support for research and instruction. Originally conceived as the "Ethnomusicological Video for Instruction and Analysis Digital Archive," the Project has moved towards a broader "Ethnographic" focus and has since changed the meaning of its acronym. In 2006, the EVIA Project entered the final stage of support grants focused on development, implementation, and sustainability planning, all funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, Indiana University, and the University of Michigan.
